Oh, Elle!

Digital presentation as part of Corcadorca’s TDC Online Residency.
Further developed via The Complex’s ART FACTORY residency.

Oh, Elle!

She fell in love… with fate!

“Judy finds a dagger in my lung

She traces a distant sky on every floor I’ve ever known

I’m holding a stick against the storm

And then I’m gone…”

Oh Elle! is a play about love, obsession, and the singular romance of story-telling, as framed by the ritual of tea-making. Our heroine, Elle, is a low-level employee in a high-rise office. She spends her day making tea for male coworkers, and quietly collecting their secrets. As she waits for the day when someone will free her from this drudgery, she makes up fantastical stories of her life outside the office - a world of shape-shifters, talking whales, mystic winds and ghosts upon ghosts. When she discovers that another woman has started working in the branch, it seems only natural that she would seduce this woman by making the perfect cup of tea.

This piece of music theatre aims to uncover the magic in the mundanity of modern life, with striking images of late-night office sleepovers, photocopier divination, corporate intrigue and cosmic wonder, all told by one woman on the phone to another. It is a show about what happens as we wait for life to happen to us.

You’re Needy (Sounds Frustrating)

Digital work in progress presentation as part of Corcadorca’s SHOW 2020.

The piece is an exploration of the insidious ideology of the “wellness” industry and its intersection with capitalism. It looks at the ways in which both seek to control women’s bodies under the label of “self-care”. Along the way, it touches on sleep, monotony, meditation and medication in the twenty-first century. And, of course, Gwyneth Paltrow. It is an offsite piece to be performed in a bathroom with one performer for one audience member.

Famed for attempting to assassinate pop artist Andy Warhol,
Valerie Solanas’ legacy has been overshadowed by one of the
most famous artists of all time. After Your Ass is a response to
Solanas’ lost play Up Your Ass (which Andy Warhol lost in his
factory) and her scathing feminist text the SCUM Manifesto in
attempt to demythologize the icon behind the artist.

This is an offsite piece.  Video available on request.

It’s A Puffin Classic

Have you ever wondered how different life would be if girls grew up in a reality where they were taught to be brave, bold, and not to fear the world around them?

We have.

Come and meet the girls who will take risks to disturb the universe.
A coming of age story, this piece looks at the girls
who dared to climb a tree, pick a peach and eat it. Messily.
